hey everyone

its been a long time since we posted anything on here as we started to play with new cameras. dont worry we're still using the HVX - we have 3 new music videos on the way that were shot HVX.

Just wanted to let everyone know of our new video (not HVX) but i'd love to share with you all on here and get feedback as it was something totally new for us.

------------------------------

A few weeks back we built a set and shot a video in Pittsburgh, PA for a band called Since October (Tooth & Nail Records). The look we wanted to achieve required us to shoot greenscreen so we could get the background we wanted. And we got to play with the new Red camera on this shoot

artist: Since October
label: Tooth & Nail Records
director: Endeavor Media Group
effects/color: Allan Stallard at Animal

We'd love to hear feedback and we'll do our best to answer any questions, although most questions would probably be better answered by the tech's on the shoot

We'd love feedback!

Just curious how fast you rated the camera.
What were things you liked about?
What were things you didn't like about it?

The camera is pretty fast. If you shoot low light the blue channel gets noisey.

I liked alot of stuff about the camera.

  • You can push the footage very far in post (coloring, effects, etc).
  • Very easy key, even in 720
  • Very easy to shoot with
  • Redcine (the program) is amazing and a powerful tool.
  • Export RAW flat images (similar to film) for grading.
  • 4K Images!!!!!
  • 120 frames per second
  • The camera is upgradable via software from Red - SO you can keep up to date without having to buy a new camera
Things I didn't like about the camera (most of these will be fixed/fixable though)
  • Focus is tough as of now because there is no eyepiece
  • Have to format the cards or drive in order to shoot a different frame rate - you can't just shoot different frame rates onto one card like the HVX
  • Its a heavy camera for hand holding and kind of awkward in shape to do so

Just to list a few.

Nice work!!! As always, you do a great job on all counts. Your keyed in backgrounds are totally seamless. Its great watching what Endeavor does and wondering what the hell is coming next! Rock on!
