Simulating Lost Cine Settings in FCP?

:undecided Simulating lost Cine settings?
Hi,

My first post - yay (sort of).

I've just shot a short film - over four extremely long nights - with the DVX100 AE and my DOP accidentally left the cine settings off about a fifth of our shots. This really sucks because, as we shot out of order, the 'video look' shots are going to be intermingled with the 'cine look' ones in the edit.

Besides throttling my DOP, is there anything I can do... to match the video to the cine look shots? I'm using Final Cut Pro to edit so any suggestions specific to that program would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

ALEX

Hi Scottdvx100,

Can't give you a definite answer to either question. Left the technicalities to the DOP (unfortunately) as he was 'familiar' with the camera. I do know that most of the footage looks fantastic (extremely film-like) and then some of it just looks like 'good video'. The DOP gave me two Cine-like options before we began shooting and I chose the 'warmer one' - if that helps at all. The camera is PAL and shoots at 25 fps. I'm assuming 25P for most of it and 'something else' for the rest.
Sorry for the lack of tech info... but that's why I'm on this thread: I need help!
Thanks again,
ALEX

If it's pal it shoots 24p or 50i so you shoudl be abel to reasonably convert. Now it could also be he had a different lookup table setup since he showed you a couple of different looks. If that's the case then you shoudl be able to do some color/contrast adjustment to at least make it reasonably close.
