Silicon Color Final Touch

I was wondering if now is a bad time to buy this software. I know Apple recently bought it and now there seems to be a silence surrounding this product. I am planning an HVX shoot and wanted high end color correction (renting is not an option)... but I'd hate to spend $4,500 on the HD version only to find out that they will include it free in the next final cut studio. Does anyone know what's going on?

Its solid professional software. Cant speak on Apple adding it to their studio package and that being free. However I did read that they bought it so that they could discontinue it and add a similar software to their studio.

I saw that at a demo. Really impressive looking stuff. Don't they have an even more expensive version? Either way... 4500 is a lot of clams... Are you a colorist or do this kind of thing a lot?

I am not a colorist per say, but I think I might as well become one. I am involved with a lot of footage right now and tweaking color is a major pain. I know final touch is cool stuff but since their 2k solution costs $25,000 (that's just for the software!!) I really need to know what their future is. If apple does include it in their next final cut studio upgrade, then I think it's definitely woth waiting.

Does anyone know of another product that does awsome color correction / finishing and that doesn't cost more than $5,000 (for HD)?

Just finished an HD color correction session with HVX footage for a major national spot treated with Final Touch. Very impressive in the hands of a talented colorist...

However, plan to budget on a CRT good monitor and BlackMagic or AJA hardware to really see what you're doing...

There's a $200 product that works with FCP and other software that is getting a lot of buzz that mimics the techniques used by colorists, I don't remember what it's called... do a search on www.hdforindies.com to find more info...

Hope this comes inside of the new Final Cut Suite. I'm really looking forward to seeing what Apple brings to the table. Should be VERY tasty.

I just saw the demo for colorista... I can't believe they include secondary color correction for $199. I wonder how well it works.

how is colorista? i have been thinking about a stand along CC. i dont like the way Vegas 7 handles its masking.
