To me those two techniques are totally different (between the two clips).

I agree. The videos posted is not the same as the Californication scene.

The whole concept is that the actors/actresses are talking/screaming and you can't hear what they're saying because the music is playing or because they're in another room but you know what is going to be said cause there isn't anything else to say.
