FS7: Sigma ART

I have a job coming up that will need both stills and video, so was thinking about using the Sigma Art primes. If anyone using these on their FS7 would care to share their experience that would be great. I'd particularly like to know what the build quality is like , since they will get abused, how good the manual focus ring is and what people are doing to get filters on the 20mm. Any other insight would be great too.

Cheers,

Quality build for Sigma Art like a tank. Very solid. I use the FotodioX WonderPana FreeArc for filter. They take abuse very good. However, one thing about Sigma service. They're strange. The last time i send in a lens for warranty fix, they never acknowledge that they receive or will give you update when it will be fix. It just like you drop a quarter into the well and not even hear a dropping splash.

Regarding the stills versions, I love the quality of the lenses, but I've found the dampening of the focus rings to be a bit stiff. A quality follow-focus system may help though.

The cine versions are probably super smooth of course.

Thanks Bubble, that Fotodiox system looks interesting.

I own the Sigma 150-600 and that has stiff focus, not great, but not a deal breaker.

I have the 35, 50 & 85. Great for video and stills. I don't mind the stiff focus I find it more tactile than my canons. First one you should get is 35mm, it's the most versatile. I would suggest getting the dock as well if you want to do stills. The auto focus on my 35 and 50 was a little off at first and needed tuning. My 85 was spot on from day one. I guess they have a bit of lens to lens variance on front/back focus. I guess that's why they released the dock. You can get custom focus gears for them on ebay I believe the guy is helicoptersean
