You can choose to believe this or not. But as the saying goes "Truth is stranger than fiction".
I'm trying to buy a Fuji S3 Pro to use for some portrait/still playing around. I was on another board where there was a discussion about this lens. The seller had sold it once already and got it back when the buyer said he had some auto focus issues with it. The seller tried it on his camera, worked fine for him. So it was represented as could have auto focus issues where the lens hunts and doesn't lock on focus, sometimes or it might work perfectly fine other times. Regardless it manually focuses just fine all the time.
So I am thinking "this sounds like a gamble, but hey, the first buyer mighta just got cold feet and his excuse for returning it might be BS". I also thought "for this price, it's cheap for a 70-200 f2.8 and I won't be using this like every day or anything. Maybe sometimes I might have to manually focus, big deal!",
So I agree to buy it, go through the whole Paypal thing and it's a done deal.
Sometime later on it occurs to me I NEVER asked what BRAND of camera this lens fits. I assumed it was for a Nikon, which is what the Fuji takes and is what I researched before I bought it. So..... I send a note to the seller and ask....... he responds "it fits CANON" !!!
OK, it's my mistake, I suck it up and just let things proceed and today the lens arrives.
It appears to be everything he described a condition 9 and the only thing that appears to have taken a any kind of beating is the plastic lens hood. The rest looks great, good finish and optics look fine. It is missing the tripod foot, which I knew, and I had found a Chinese one online for $25 which I didn't order yet. It will come with both lens caps, the hood, the original box and padded case.
I paid just under SOLD to my door and will take my lumps now and will sell this to someone who might be able to use it for SOLD shipped in the US with all Paypal fees included. I ship USPS Priority Mail and if International Shipping is needed, you will have to cover the upcharge to go International.
