GH2 Sigma 30mm 1.4 vs Nokton 25mm 0.95

Hey guys,
Has anyone used both the Sigma and Nokton lenses? There's almost a 600 dollar price difference. Is the Sigma sharp wide open? If it is, I'm thinking of selling my Nokton and getting the Simga 30mm and Canon 50mm 1.4 for roughly the same price.
Thanks!

I've used both, and they are both impressive. But for the price, the Sigma 30mm 1.4 cannot be beat on the gh2. Easily one of the more cinematic lenses on this camera. Samyang is decent... but the Sigma just shines on this camera. Here's a video I shot with it >> https://vimeo.com/35999739

The Nokton 25mm is a wider lens, but 30mm pretty much covers it for me. However, everyone's needs are different.

Thanks for that! Nice video and cute kid :)

The Voigtlander is not a lens I'd sell at any cost... I know I'd regret it. Also keep in mind that there are several 50mm f1.4 lenses out there for under 100 bucks... I'd borrow the sigma and get a first hand look at it before you do anything.

Thanks for the help.

edit: found THIS lens at B&H, although its only 2.8.

Any more feedback on these two lenses? I currently have a 20mm pancake and am considering getting the Nokton 25mm or a Sigma 30mm 1.4 to replace the 20mm... or just keep the 20mm instead of getting either.

I have a Nikon mount of this lens and really like it. Its sharper than you expect and the it really has a good depth to the image. Good in low light and I use it on both a T2i and a GH2. NIkon-G adapters work fine for either m43 or EOS. For EOS I used THIS kind of adapter sucessfully.

My main on camera lens is the Sigma 20mm f1.8. Fantastic in most cases. Not uber sharp wide-open, but good enough and the macro capability is very handy!

Hello dudes, I'm a bit confused about how to adapt this Sigma 30mm 1.4 to a GH2.

- When it's the Olympus 4/3 mount, the adapter will allow aperture control of the lens? This Olympus version have the same quality of the others mounts?

- When it's the Canon or Nikon mount, so the adapter need to have it's own artificial iris, right? But how can I set the lens to be wide open if I don't have a Canon or Nikon camera to make it before start to using the adaptor aperture ring in a GH2? And, using this kind of artificial aperture does not imply in a strange DOF effect, since the lens will be always wide open even with the adapter aperture stopped down?

Thanks for any clarification.
:)

Welcome, Fernando. =P

You either have to keep a Canon body around that you can preview aperture with, then remove the lens (I have a Canon body, but somehow have misplaced it... go figure).

A Nikon mount 30/1.4, then a Novoflex Nikon to Canon adapter which will allow you to adjust the aperture.

Or a Redrock livelens adapter, which will control it for you.

Hope that helps

Thanks, Kholi.
So, if I don't have a Canon/Nikon body, the only way to use this lens with a GH2, is using the Olympus version?

But even this, I don't know if the aperture control will work in GH2. I guess it will, since 4/3 to M4/3 probably keeps electrical connections. Do you know?

That I don't know. I bought the 20/1.8 Sigma and just used a Canon body to adjust aperture because I knew I would be using the lenses on different cameras in the future.

Hopefully someone with actual experience with the Olympus can tell ya.

Thanks, Kholi.

I have the Olympus 4/3 version of the Sigma 30 1.4 and use the olympus 4/3 > M4/3 adapter (the panasonic one is even more solid). All the electronic functions work as it is an electronic adapter although auto focus is stupid slow. I never use auto focus though so its not an issue for me.

Thank you very much! I don't need autofocus too, only the aperture control. :)
If you know, can you point a link with this adapter (or the panasonic one)? There are so many adapters that my head is spinning.
