Side hand grip - Leave on or take off?

So...as many of are, I've been playing with my new toy, trying different configurations and whatnot. My Storm case is coming this week and I'm about to cut the foam to fit the camera. I'm just trying to figure out if I should cut it for the cam with the hand grip attached or removed.

What are you guys doing with the side grip? Leaving it on all the time and removing it if need be? Or just taking it off altogether and not anticipating ever using it?

Personally, I can't remember the last time I use the side grip on my DVX/HVX, I usually hold these cams at my chest with both hands or I have them on rails and handgrips. So I think I'm just gonna take it off so it doesn't take up space. Then just chuck it in my accessories bag.

Thoughts?

I'm leaving mine on until some accessory comes out that tells me I have to remove it to use that accessory. You never know when you'll actually want to use that hand grip, and when/if that time comes, do you really want to be stuck without it?

took mine off and using the hot shoe mount to attach a noga arm. even without the noga, i have no foreseeable use for a handle there. so it stays off, but available. :)

Simple cheap nanoFlash mount: under $2.00!

Simple cheap nanoFlash mount: under $2.00!

Iʻm using one of the 1/4" 20 pukas to mount my nanoFlash. Sooo simple, so cheap:

1x 1/4" 20 stud, 1.5 inch long
2x 1/4" 20 nuts (one plastic license plate nut with flange, another from an old tripod mount)

1. Screw the stud into the camera.
2. Add plastic nut with flange and snug up to camera body
3. Add big camera nut to stud
4. Screw nanoFlash onto stud
5. When nano achieves a nice mounting position, snug camera nut to nano

Done! And all for under $2!

I'm going to take it off and then put it back on. And then I'll take it off and then put it back on again. And then....
seriously, I'll leave it on until I need to take it off and then I'll lose it and never be able to find it again.... that is until I sell it four years from now, which means I'll have to ask for less than I'd like to, and then I'll find it two years after I've sold it, and it will be useless because I'll be happy about shooting with my new Panasonic AG-UF300 which will have three full frame sensors, four slots for four 2000gb UXHFSD Cards. We'll all be pissed because it only outputs in SuperDuperAvCAm at 200mbs 422 18 bits at 6K, and we'll have to buy an outboard device to get 444 at 24 bits at full 10K with the full frame rate of 1 to 1000fps. We'll all be wondering why it couldn't have just been built into the camera in the first place.
