I saw a 5d in this trailer which is one of the reasons I posted, looks very interesting comes out on itunes august 22nd

From the trailer they mostly echo what I think. That we aren't there yet. Film is superior, BUT we are getting very close, and the workflow and cost advantages of digital means the transition is going to happen.

Actually, the message of this movie is far beyond that. You'll see when it is released, but the questions of "when will they be the sae, side-by-side" is essentially answered that in many ways they are. Good/bad/indifferent, the topic then goes to how this effects us all. It's an interesting perspective, as it doesn't really bother with the arguments of which is technically better but instead says that yeah, eventually it will get there if it hasn't already, but more interesting is what does this mean for us all going forward.

The effect has been a complete change in the market. It's MUCH easier to get a film made. It's MUCH harder to make any money from that finished film. When entry level for a feature film was north of $500K (that budget level basically being no budget shlock) not nearly as many films got made, so your complete feature, even if it was pretty bad, could probably get distribution just because there was so little content around SOMEBODY would buy it. Now the market is totally flooded with $500K films so unless it rises about the noise odds are you're going to be luck to get 10% of your money back. The slow death of physical media plays into this as well.
