shuttle intensity

Picked up a BM Shuttle Intensity for capturing from a HVX 200...seems to work well with the usb 3 in my Asus g74sx. I found it will only capture what comes off the component output. So no 24p. Any body using one have a handle on getting 24p?
I guess it may not be possible.

I'm thinking the HVX is just too old to do true 24p output. You'll probably just have to pull it out in post.

Just think about this: When you set the HVX to record 720p30 it records each frame twice unless you choose 720pN30. Why? Because back when this camera was made the specs for 720 was that it was 60 frames a second. Nothing more, nothing less. (Well if you were in a PAL zone, maybe 50fps...) 720 with only 30 frames a second was pretty much witch craft for many NLEs back in the day when the original HVX200 originally came out.

I don't think any camera does that now. If you record 720p30 or 720p24 or 720p120 or 1080p96 or... the camera just records the video at that frame rate & puts the metadata in the files to match & no one worries that it doesn't match ATSC specifications.

Yeah, I knew the various frame rates were tied to the dvcpro codec and that the component output was 1080i 59.97...it was my hope that somebody had tried this before. It's a neat capture device. The only discussion I can ever find is one about inadequate usb3 data rates. It seems when folks get the thing to run they have no reason to post anything again.
