Shutting off audio tracks three and four.

PREFACE AND APOLOGY: First, let me say that I hope I'm not becoming a pest with all my questions. Despite coming from a DVX background (3 years), there really is quite a learning curve with this camera because it offers so much. It really is like getting three new cameras in one (and having to learn all of them --- including new FCP settings!).
Does anyone know how to shut off the additional two tracks of audio. I'm getting four tracks everytime I import DVCPro50 or DVCProHD, but not DVCPro or DV. Is there some setting I can't find or have overlooked?

DVCPRO and DV only support 2 audio tracks (in 48k and you should only use 48k audio). The bandwidth and formats for DVCPRO 50 and DCVPRO HD allow for 4 audio tracks. They are full quality (not like doing DV @ 32k to get 4 tracks), so just leave them there. If you don't want them in your edit, only have two target tracks in the timeline when you do your inset edit.

I personnally am loving having 4 tracks. I use input 2 and have a shotgun running on 1 & 2 (at different levels) and then use the camera mic for atmos/backup cause its there. I pretty much have only used 2 tracks in the edit except when I want the atmos etc.

Geoff,
Thanks, that's a great suggustion. I hadn't though of using those tracks for atmosphere every now and then. I'm sure those two extra tracks will save my behind one of these days.
