shutter speed question for gh1 PAL

Hi, spent quite a lot of time searching the forum, and already posted this question in the camera settings thread, but haven't gotten a response yet. So here it goes,
I always keep reading that for a film like look to set the shutter speed to 1/50 on Pal cameras, does this go for 1080 25p as well as 720 50p? also, a shutter of 1/1oo is for slo mo, but only in 720 50p right?

Yeah you have got it pretty much/

1/50 for everything except slow mo on 720 50p when you should up it to 100.
 
Just to say, that all the above holds when you want to respect the 180 degrees shutter rule. Of course there are some situations where you may wish to break this rule :)
 
yeah just as KOSTAS says, staying at 1/50 is a good rule to know about but then rules are made to be broken :smile:

i stuck to it like glue until realised that i was actually allowed to go with a faster shutter speed, alot of people like the faster more manic feel it gives (gladiator/saving private brian battle scenes) also skateboarding and early puff daddy rap videos.

i may be being really dumb here but why is it called the 180 shutter rule?
