Shutter Off and 180 degrees

What is the difference between these settings.... "Shutter Off" and "180 degrees" ....as accessed by the Shutter Dial Wheel?

What does Shutter Off actually do?

Shutter Off sets the default shutter speed. It should be interpreted as "custom shutter speeds off". It does NOT disable the shutter, like as on full-sized shoulder cameras. "shutter off" forces a fixed 1/50 shutter for 24p/25p/30p/50p/50i. It's 1/60 for 60p/60i.

We are in a process of working out best / optimal strobe free perfomance from the AF102 at 25fps and 50 fps ( PAL world) and struggling a little.

Any insights you have as regards settings would be appreciated.
