Hello to the this dvx group and thanks already for all the information you share.
Ok, I read some previews posts but i still wanted to check a few things that might be more particular to my case. I do own a dvx100a (my first digital video camera) and just today I bought a AT-897 shortgun mic. I do know I need to spend time and try all the things that the camera can do to learn but I haven't had that time yet and I just got a gig for this weekend so i was hoping I could get some help from here to get me started.
I'll be videotaping a live dance performance, I'm not really looking for the most profesional quility like broadcasting, this is more for documentation of the performance, but anyhow i want to learn how to make it the best I can. i have video a few other performances and what happens is that even though dance has some fast motions also most of the time the lights are very low. What kink of settings will be appropiate for this can of job? like 30p, but what shuter speed it is recomended for fast movements, but what about to dark? Also I was thinking about having the external shotgun on channel1 (for maybe speaking of some physical noise) and the internal mic on channel 2 for general audience and music.
Please any suggestions will be helpful and appreciated.
Thanks
my gig is this Fryday, Saturday and Sunday.
