Shure MX 183/184/185 Lavaliers - Any input?!

I'm looking for an inexpensive, but decent sounding, lavalier. I'm using the Sennheiser ME-series mics (ME62, ME64 & ME66) and really like the ability to change caps to fit the sound needs... So, I'm looking at the Shure MX180-series lavs. I like the idea that I can swap the omni, card & supercard if I need to modify the sound.

Anyone have any feedback on these lavs? (TIA!)

The Shure MX180 lavs are garbage. Yes, the capsules detach and can be swapped. But the problem is that the capsules detach. The rigors of service that a lav must normally survive cause the capsules on these pieces of trash to loosen frequently, which is a huge problem as it happens in the middle of the action.

Aside from that, the capsule is large, clunky, and difficult to place.

Lastly, why do you want a lav with any pattern other than omni? Cardioid lavs are great... if the people wearing them never turn their heads to either side.

If you want something better in that same price range, look at the Audio-Techinca MT830. Or, for just slightly more, the Countryman EMW might be your best bet.
