Shoulder rig for the Panasonic DVX200

I’m thinking of buying a shoulder rig for my DVX200 and GH4’s thought this might be a good choice the TT-03-TL Tilta Offset DSLR Shoulder Rig. Check out the review. https://youtu.be/VrRZCjn1UyQ Have any of you used it with a DVX200? Your comments will be appreciated.

in my opinion, tilta makes some of the best "budget" rigs out there. and probably THE best sub-$1000 follow focus.
BUT that appears to be DSLR-only baseplate. you can always buy a larger baseplate to use with it though...

i don't see any larger ones on the website. but they usually have some in store. i'll be at the ikan store in the next couple of days. will have a look.

I've used this shoulder for awhile now. Here are a few pics that I posted when I first got the rig.

I wasn't very happy with it at first. For me, I am not able to use the rear viewfinder on the camera with this rig, it just doesn't come out far enough for my eye . But I've added a shade for the flipout viewfinder and when I'm outdoors it works well enough that way.

I'm having a hard time deciding about a shoulder mount for my DVX200, the two mentioned so far have pluses and minuses. Anybody have a better Idea/Rig, something just released. If I had to decide now I would pick the Tilta TT-03 TL the adjustment offered by the off-set shoulder pad assembly is very nice plus I can also use it with my GH4's and it comes with a excellent Follow Focus. It just looks like a better value.

having owned (and sold) a $3500 elaborate zacuto rig. i can tell you from experience. ALL rigs, at any price will have plusses and minuses. for my uses. a monopod is more useful than any shoulder rig i've used. primarily because a shoulder rig [usually] makes it hard to get different angles, quickly.

It's off the subject of Shoulder Mounts but I can't help but wonder if a DVX200 might be light enough to use with a Monopod like one of those shown in this video? https://youtu.be/jvf-UuCdeYg It might accomplish the same thing for "Run and Gun" shoots.

geez dude. do you even read people's responses? i suggested a monopod in the previous reply... : (
i have the manfrotto in the video ad its perfectly capable.

I use like wgzn the DVX with a monopod, a Sirui P-204S with a Manfrotto quick release plate or
sometimes with the Manfrotto MVH502A head, depending on what the situation requires.
Sometimes I use it as a Steadystick by slow walking.

At first I have a look to a shoulder rig, but I have problems by balancing and when I want to
change from the LCD to the viewfinder.

And I like the monopod, when I am waiting for the next shot.

Thanks for your comments, after giving all this a lot of thought I think I'll get on "The Monopod Train" and forget about Shoulder Rig's. The Sirui's look like the clear winners and I'm trying to decide which one. I may often have a PIX-E5 4K Recorder mounted on my DVX200, the camera and recorder weight will be approximately 9.5 LB. plus a Manfrotto 501 Head and that's another 4 LB's.

Do you think that would be too heavy for the Sirui P204S?

The max payload is 8 kg. The DVX weight is about 3,1 kg including battery

Thats a good idea and a reason for me to try to modify my monopod!

The search for the best most cost effective and practical way to support a DVX200 has had me jumping back and forth and considering various options starting with TT-03-TL Tilta Offset DSLR Shoulder Rig, The Protech ST-7RP200 Shoulder Mount adaptor, then the Sirui P-204S Monopod and now the VariZoom DV-MediaRig. https://youtu.be/Ov0fMy4qsLo

We’ve had comments covering all of the above except the VariZoom DV-MediaRig. Anybody care to voice an opinion on it?

I spoke to the good folks at Zacuto Yesterday. It looks like they are coming out with some sort of pistol grip/zoom control this fall that will work with the DVX-200. I love their products so that seems to be the answer for me.

That's great. You really can't go wrong with Zacuto...unless, of course, you can't afford their product! Wooden Camera is also good.
