Why should it be necessary to have to pay lots of extra money and have all the hassle of counterweights, when just as good an operation could be had if the camera was physiaclly designed properly in the first place!?! Whatever it's other failings may be, that must be the best thing about the HD100 - it lacks the bigsize and weight of a 2/3" camera, but keeps the best of the styling features.
A camera brace may be not so bad for planned shoots, but for news, documentary etc or anything in a crowd, it's a big drawback.
I have a Cavision rod and handle system and it's not much a of a drawback at all. It does affect( not prevent) some of the handheld positions possible with the DVX/ HVX, but it's benefits far outweigh whatever drawbacks may be incurred by the apparatus.
BTW, I'm refferring to news, doc, and reality show shooting styles. Of course, YMMV.
