Shoulder Mount System

Who here is using an over the shoulder mount setup with their HVX/HPX?

Are there any complete over the shoulder mount systems for the HPX with shoulder mounts and handlebars? Or are most of the rigs just bits and pieces of equipment?

there are a ton out there. ive used several, own two. and none of them is perfect. but the best ive personally used is the zacuto stuff. expensive - but worth it!

Look at the DYI section... Lots of pics there. I personally took the Cavision stuff and mixed matched till I had what I needed.

I think the grips and shoulderpad were like 80 bucks each. The Zacuto rods are like $500 and the additional support was like another $200 or so.

my full zacuto rig was like $3000 but that was rods, baseplate, redplate, micromount, zicro, zamerican, zgrips, shoulder pad, qrelease, etc, etc, etc...

pricey, YES! but pretty much bulletproof ; )

I use Zacuto as well. Have 2.5 rigs or so from them. Everyone knows I'm a big fan.

I have lots of other stuff I've used in the past too.

If you're interested in some sorta discount, maybe I could get you the hookup.

I just started using the Stasis Flex, and so far I'm not thrilled. The real pain is when you need to change quickly from tripod to Shoulder. You have to remove the tripod plate from the camera, then you have to attach the HVX to the Stasis plate, which does not de-tach. This makes for a somewhat cumbersome process of turning the Stasis on its side, so you can get at the screw, then tightening it. Since there is no quick release on the Stasis, this process takes some time. So much for "run and gun."

On The Cheap

After we added a DOF adapter to our 200a, hand-holding sorta went out the window. On a lark, we got one of those super-cheapy two-handed mounts from Bollywood. It's wambly in places, but it actually works really well. It would certainly not stand up to daily use, but if your budget does not allow $3K, it's an option. Ours was wbout $150.00.
