Shoulder Mount Rig

Hey guys, I was interested in purchasing a shoulder mount rig and was wondering if you guys had any suggestions. The only one I have really looked at was the DVTEC MultiRigPro. I don't really know what to look for when looking at these types of products so any help would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Well, what's your setup? stock DVX? 35mm adapter, mattebox, external monitor, etc?

All these should be taken into account before your purchase.

I've had my eye on the DVrigPro HD lately...

I have a stock DVX100b. I have no additions to it such as a 35mm adapter, etc. Although I do have some filters, but I doubt that matters. I currently use wireless xlr mics. Can't think of anything else that would really affect it.

thanks for that. I think I'm going to pick one of those up. how do you like it?

I love it. I have a zoom/record controller mounted to the right handle and use that for simple stuff. When things are more technical, quick zooms and manual focus, i hold the left handle with the left and hold the DVX's base with my right hand. My hand is able to balance the camera and operate the focus and zoom rings.

i have the sb2 also and i love it. i have pics of it on my link take a look at what i did to it so you can see how ive turned it into an all in one device.

I like the MultiRigPro. The support pole allows me to use my left hand to adjust the focus or zoom without compromising the steadiness of the shot.

i just got the Varizoom DVmedia rig and personally i love this thing.

Allows you to shoot handheld for much longer with the support pod. the counter balance weight also makes a difference as well. i was skeptical about how much of a difference it would make and its noticeable how with the weight the shots are more steady and fluid.

I plan on buying the the focus/iris controller for it and the zoom one. Cant wait.

i shot handheld for 3 hours straight the other day and didn't get tired. still a little fatigued of course but you could never ever do that with just a dvx in hand. your forearms would explode. imagine an hvx for that long.

here is a picture of it. fitted with the zoom and focus/iris controllers on the handle.

has anyone tried both the MultiRig Pro and the Varizoom DVmedia rig? They look pretty similar. Is Varizoom's worth the extra money?

Yesterday I've tested DvRig Pro + 100BE and it feels great! Unfortunatelly I didn't have a lot of time for test and they didn't have DvRig Pro HD and DvMultiRig for testing so I have few questions for anybody that had a chance to test them:
1. is it better to by DvRig Pro or DvRig Pro HD? For now I work with 100BE, but in a year or so maybe I'll buy HDX200.
2. Is DvMultiRig good enough for 100BE? How it works compered to DVRig Pro?
3. Can I use any of these rigs instead of tripod and fluid head for shorter shots?

Tnx

M

Where did you test the DvRigPro ? Let me know where you live and I see if I can arrange a demo for you.

I have a DV RIG PRo HD, ordered from Alangordon.com in the states. Fast delivery, good customer service. The DVRigPro is cheaper than the Vairzoom's, and exactly the same, and the HD is only $50 more, and its really solid.

Yeah, I used the DVRigPro for a 4 week documentary in Argentina and it really saved my arms. It feels sturdy once you have it on you with the belt, suspension rod and balance weight (or FS100 if you so desire) on the back.

Even though it might be a little tricky, you CAN do low angle shots also by letting it hang; it was prett handy for some walking shots/following wheels sort of thing.

Overall I recommend it.

Anyone used the DvRigPro HD with the 35mm lenses?

well, how about price? I made a shoulder for my sony vx2100 at home. it's budget was almost 15euro :) and using it for 3 years... but after HD upgrade, I need a profesional one...
