Ben, thanks for the pix.
quick question: do you know what the overall weight is of the rig, inc hvx but minus firestore.
i'll tell you why. I'm a UK based news cameraman, shooting SP,SX and now XD.
i've not been able to work for 4 months because of a slipped disc in my neck.
my company has bought me an HVX-200, and i'm trying to make the overall kit that i carry, lighter than XD.
I am used to a camera that sit's on your shoulder, and although the hvx is much lighter than xd it is still not comfortable for long stints hand held.
last point: i need a shoulder mount that can stay on, so i can quickly swith between handheld and tripod

The MultiRigPro. is only 920 Gr. (2 Pounds) and most of it's weight goes to the support pod. Even with an HVX on it you hardly feel any pressure on your shoulder. You can also use the MultiRig in what we call the "Stabilizer Plus" mode,
the shoulder bar turns into a right grip, and all the weight is supported by your hip bone. See the MultiRig site.
Regarding going fast from handheld to tripod and back. a tripod plate bracket is
mounted on the front grip and you can have your plate mounted to it at all times. all you have to do is fold the front arm and grip (2 Sec.) and slide the whole set up in your QR tripod system.
Weight is not your major problem and is not the cause for your bad disc. during the long years of shooting with shoulder cameras you have deformed your spinal cord, wrist, neck, knees in all those awkward neck, back and arms position you
used for many hours.
The MultiRig is designed so you do not stress any part of your body, You can adjust the arms, grips and camera distance so you fill comfortable, No stress.
It's great being a cameraman, But it is an extremely unhealthy and dangerous occupation...

the difference i have over most people in this forum is , someone else is picking up the tab, and money really is not an issue, quality and a successful return to work is

Just since it's not been mentioned here explicitly (it's sorta linked in by the review), I'll add that the MultiRig is the only one out there that gives you a plethora of shooting styles. It really does adapt very quickly to different configurations. I don't use it primarily as a shoulder mount; I use it most often "fig rig" style, occasionally with the support, and about 10% of the time as a full shoulder-mount rig. It really excels at all of these, and packs up very small - which is a great convenience; it's really like bringing three or four camera mount setups almost "in your pocket". I think the MultiRig is very reasonably priced, but especially if money's no object, it's a no-brainer. You may decide you like something else a tad better for some situations, but if you want to have something you can pull out of your kit to handle everything well - which you will likely twist into a whole new shape for some unique situatiuon once in a while - nothing will serve you as well as the MultiRig.
