Shoulder Mount DIY with PVC pipe. $30

I know there are others out there but I am building my own version of a should mount for my DSLR and other smaller camcorders. Thus far all the parts are going to total about 30 bucks which is a very nice cheap number. I also don't have much in the way of tools. So everything I do is done with a hack saw, drill, and hammer.

I am trying to keep this as simple as I can and to also make it functional for when I decide to add other items, like a focus system of some sort.

here are some pics that I have thus far. The rig is not finished. I need to run to Lowes and get a couple more pvc joints, foam padding, and some nuts and bolts. I also need to cement it all together and paint it.

Also I plan to upload some video just as soon as I get a chance to film it. I will also include some test footage as well.

Any and all suggestions or ideas would be very welcome!

i'm wondering about the looks we might get with that thing...

i used my tripod as a shoulder mount once, its kinda stable, no shaking...
Two of the legs had a padding, i placed those on my shoulder, the third leg was hand held, with the camera right in front of my face, kinda hard to see so close, but it was smooth. Not meant for running though...

Ive done the same thing for the odd shot here and there. Ive got a Manfrotto set of legs with a 701 head. It works wonderfully with my canon HV30 because of the flip out screen but i find it very had with my T2i.

Nice design for the PVC, seems very functional but how well does it balance on the back side? It would seem to light to me but i could be wrong.
