FS5: Shoulder Mount Bits

Hi Everyone,

Shooting with the FS5 - enjoying it a lot. Would love to put together a lightweight shoulder kit for it - has anyone had any luck or done any research into finding:

An extension for the had grip? So it can be in a similar position to the FS7?
- I reckon the Shape or AJA extension could work, I just don't know how to adapt the rosette:

A loupe for the LCD?
- any C100 shooters tried one of these on the FS5? http://cvp.com/index.php?t=product/zacuto_usa_z-find-c1

With that stuff in place I'd be chuffed for a long old time.

I am working on both a shoulder rig. 2 different ones actually and a handle extension, one with a loupe for the LCD, and one that uses the EVF, both with options for "Brick" type batteries and Odyssey support. I will have some photos next week.

And by New years I should have the first run in stock. The shoulder system is part of the same kit as the Rails. One the other or both can be used as well as just the camera, all quickly snapped together.

My $195.00 15mm rail system that is quick release is back from the anodizer and we will ship the first orders on Monday. Studio photos and description will be on my WEBstore by Monday.

Here are some quick iPhone photos of the Rail System:

Olof,

Looks more like a hood than a loupe are u considering a viewfinder to fit over the LCD?

What is is the photo in the above post is a hood I made, it is made from laminated fabric, inside is Velcro fabric and there is plastic stiffener between that and the Velour on the outside. It is similar to the Odyssey hoods I make. Here is a photo of it laid out flat, it weighs just a few grams:

Here is a Hoodman Loupe for the EX1 I customized a little, it works very well, and Hoodman may make one specific to the FS5 if not then it is easy to customize including access to the switch on top:

If you look closely you can see the velcro on the LCD that holds the Hood in the above photos. These are just quick iPhone photos.

I am making the shoulder brace to go along with the Hood and Loupe right now, photos here soon...

Where can the rosette adapter be purchased? I can't find it online. Do you have a link you could share?
I will have photos here soon of the Rosette kit I am making for the FS5 and handle extensions as well.

If you are in a hurry for one contact me directly.

Some shoulder bits coming together, we are just playing around with ideas this would be the traditional ENG setup with Brick battery and Loupe on the LCD:

This is incredible well balanced even W/O a handle extension. But I will be making that as well. You don't have to use a Brick battery, I have a bag I sometimes use on some of my kits instead. Or we could mount an Odyssey or other recorder back there, It would balance nicely as well. This comes off in seconds.

Any comments are welcome...

The Hoodman Loupe looks very promising. Do you think the LCD strong enough to hold it in place and not put any strain on the ldc?

I spoke to Kinotehnik who make the LCDVF's and they are not considering to produce one for the FS5.

Olof, your shoulder mount looks a bit awkward but if u say its well balanced thats great.

Hi everyone,

I'm just about to start dashing around the country for Christmas visits but I wanted to write a quick note to say thanks for the responses! Some good looking rigs.

Olof - nice rig but I'm not really looking into 15mm bars. It just doesn't suit my work. That velcro rig for holding on the viewfinder is nice though! Thats a woodman loupe with a home made velcro rig?

I'm not in a massive rush for the rosette (I say that now, no doubt I'll need it first thing January) but the extension arm is the thing I want the most.

Thanks again! Festive regards to y'all!

I am very interested in the arm extension
I will have samples next week of the handle extension and the shoulder extension with and without 15mm rail part.

You can contact me directly if you want to try my beta versions.
