As many Vegas users know, Sony Vegas only uses 1 core while previewing video content. Some other applications such as Edius are known to use more cores, allowing the HD content and even HDV and DV be be accessed by multi core processors and in tun allowing REALTIME PREVIEWS.
Vegas uses more cores for rendering, which is great and I for one am happy with what I get in the run out phase of editing.
If Sony's pending release on Vegas 8 is to take advantage of a 64-bit platform would it not make sense for those out there still using Dual Core PC's who are not making the switch to Quads for a while yet to contact Sony and maybe put it to them that while Vegas 8 is in the works, they might look to address implimenting in Vegas' properties the option or by default to use more cores for previewing content?
In the end it would mean realtime previewsfor Dual and Quad core PCs?
We could cut HD on a Dual or Quad laptop on the feild also and screen in full fps also...
We can contact SONY directly from here to make suggestions.
