FS7: should there be a cover / lid for the viewfinder plug?

I dont think one exists.
Ive covered my hole with electical tape.

Hey Clermond,
I'm also using a 3rd-party VF in place of the supplied EVF, and wanted to share one lesson I learned. I would be very wary of setting out shooting without taking the Sony VF with you. If for any reason you have to do an all-reset or similar operation in the field, if you only have your HDMI/SDI monitor with you, you'll have a VERY difficult time re-activating the relevant output from the menus 'blind'.

Yep my viewfinder is in my 'spare bits' box with the camera.
Not only menu access but 'insures' against the dp502 failing, either as a unit or the SDi or power/batts
on my BBC doc I was killing the Dp502 5d batteries and had problems.
Im now powering the Dp502 off a BPU/dtap arrangement which means one battery style.. and all batts have power meters
My 502 has got caught in the rain a couple of times - im not confident it wont die soon
