Should I use regular tapes?

I placed an order for some Panasonic Master Tapes and apparently my order is not going to make it in time for my shoot. I have one Master tape, but it will probably not be enough. What are your thoughts on using regular DV tapes for just this project? I would probably be shooting for 5 hours. I've had my DVX-A for less than a year and I've only used the Master tapes.

Re: Should I use regular tapes?

I've been using non master tape for 54 hours with no problems at all. AY-DVM60EJ 60 minute tapes to be exact. Thats what originally came with my camera so that is what I'Ve been using from the get go..
I think you will be fine.Just stick with the Panasonic brand if at all possible .Just to be on the safe side.

Re: Should I use regular tapes?

i use fuji tapes exclusively... have been the past 5 years. i've shot 2 features with them... never let me down. no need to use panasonic tapes. just make sure you stick with dry loop. i know a guy who uses the panasonic tapes and he shot a wedding a few weeks ago and one of his panasonic tapes didn't record anything but a blue screen of death!! way to go panasonic! imagine his embarrasment. :-[

Re: Should I use regular tapes?

Could someone make a list of what tapes are wet and what tapes are dry? I've always used the cheapest Panasonic tapes they make. If I get a new camera I may consider only using one type of high quality tape.

Re: Should I use regular tapes?

Fuji and Panasonic PQ and MQ are dry, Sony tapes are wet.

Re: Should I use regular tapes?

Do panasonic make wet tapes at all. And if yes, which ones?

All the best

Fidel.
