Should I Sell My T2i w/Kit Lens and 50mm F1.8 For Panasonic GH2?

The new Gh2 sounds very appealing. I like the swivel LCD for hard to reach shots. I read it's near noiseless at 1600ISO and still very usable at 3200ISO. The main thing I do not like is the 2X crop, which could be good if you want to use a fast lens as a fast telephoto lens, but very difficult for fast wide angle shots.

A few important areas for me is low light, dynamic range and if there is less rolling shutter issues and aliasing/moire. So far Rolling shutter is the thing that bother me the most about my T2i moreso than aliasing or moire. Any noticeable improvement in low light is very welcomed.

Does anyone know yet how the GH2 will compare to the T2i or 5D Mark II in low light and how the rolling shutter will be compared to my T2i?

Should I keep the T2i or sell it for the GH2? Or should I wait and see?

Thanks!

Nearly noisless at 3200? I'd wait for real world resolution tests on production models first.

But ultimately if you want the least noise combined with the best low light sensitivity you are left with one choice - The MarkII.

Wait around and see the footage and try one out to see if you like it better. No rush to decide on this. I know that if i were you I would but that's because I know I like it more. You could always get both and use nikon glass on both...though that would negate some key advantages, the gh2's fast auto focus.

I don't think it'll effect the T2i's price, honestly. I think the GH2 will be a better camera overall, although I find the T2i appealing as well, and wouldn't mind having both.

Why would GH2 release have an effect on t2i pricing? It's a stills camera... and that's what the vast majority uses it for... besides all Canon EOS has a proper 2nd hand value... don't worry about it

All electronics like DSLRs will plummet in value in due time. I mean absolutely plummet. The value comes in actually using it to capture stills and video -- the imagery you capture should be worth (either financially, or through some other form of satisfaction) more than the price you pay for the camera.

Not everyone uses these cameras for video. People are still selling the t1i for $600+. I just sold my t2i yesterday for $800+ as I am upgrading to the 60d for only a couple hundred more.

Once the Gh2 comes out lets see what happens.....

Yeah T2i should hold its value fine after GH2 release...I was at B&H the other day and they're still selling new T1i's to people (and I don't mean offering it, I watched a salesmen actively sell it to somebody) for a price not too much under the T2i. They're different systems and used by radically different customers. I'd be more concerned about a T3i or a new low-end Nikon camera.

I don't think it'll plummet all that badly -- I have a Nikon D50 from maybe five years ago and it's still apparently worth $300 on ebay -- not sure why its held up so well, although it is a well-built camera.

I was in Best Buy a couple of days ago and saw an employee sell a t1i to a customer for $700 I thought to myself the t2i is only a $100 more........

Trust me when I tell you you'll be fine in selling your camera.

Stores are making a push because before the t2i came out, canon slashed their price to sell to the stores, the stores loaded up on the camera thinking this was to be the default model for a while that everyone would buy after they wanted to move up from a point and shoot.

A local store manager told me that he only ordered 4 t2i's when it was comming out because he wanted to push the pile of t1i's he had in stock.

Maybe the t2i shortage wasnt because of canon's stock, but because of the stores greed?
