So. I do alot of wakeboard filming and ****. Its funny because the wakeboard community is pretty funny. They love to hate on stuff on online forums. The hate doesnt bother me anymore. But It still isnt awesome to see it. Sure There alot of people that like my videos and are stoked. but then there a select few that are just always talking ****.

check out some of my videos here and tell me what u think?

I am by no means a pro editor or filmer. I much rather be a DP then a editor.

I get payed for most of my work and Its nice to have a little return on the huge investment I am making into video production.

Ive been filming wake stuff for about 10 months now.

I took Video Production for 4 years through High School which was 3 years ago now I basically ran our pretty extensive news show at school. We had 3 studio cameras with all the bells and whistles it was alot of fun. Its funny because all the kids that I graduated with that were supposably these promising young film makers arnt doing anything with video stuff now.

My teacher told me I was going no where lol

Ya gotta have a paying gig while you make the films you wanna make. Even the guys that are able to pay the rent shooting (legal, corporate and wedding videos), mostly do it so that they can make "their own films" on the side.

Ya he taught TV production and I know he filmed weddings and stuff on the side. He used edit the event footage during class time lol.

Sounds like he was not much of a teacher.
As long as you have a passion for an art and excersise it every chance you get, you are an artist.
Know that you will always lose legitimacy by referring to shooting video as filming. One has to shoot film to film something.
When you get married, call your old teacher to shoot your wedding for you. Then have your crew follow him around making a great documentary called Karma.

pwned!

Ha ya. Ive gotten the lecture of Filming=Film and so on. Its just habit to say i went out filming.

I tried to find my old teacher email he no longer works as a teacher. I just wented to send him some links to my recent videos and tell him how I get payed to videotape people wakeboarding.

well when ya find him, don't ask him "do I got a chance" cuz he'll just laugh and hit delete after saying no out loud.

I used to go on an online forum for skateboarding, all they did was hate. This site is a filmmaking site so you will get good and bad reviews on films, but it'll be with respect.

People on the forums your talking about are ridiculous and don't no/appreciate films people make. They'll see a trick, hate on it, and then display their hatred on a public forum.

Some of those "haters" are even on this site, but are much more polite..

Anyway, if you're really passionate about what you want to do, you shouldn't have a problem right? If there are obstacles you have trouble getting by, then you'll make sure you do get by them. That is if course, if your really into re film biz..

I thought what you did was really nice but I didn't feel any energy.
When I've water skied there was always a sense of energy.

It's nice to have slow mo's and I like the drops on the lens, but I was waiting for the low cam-on-the-ski shot.
Maybe some more POV from the skier and from the ski.
When I was doing basic skiing and criss crossing, I felt like I was doing about 40 - 50 mph and just skipping across the waves full tilt, flyin'. I didn't get that sense of energy here.

Like I say, I really like what you have. Just maybe blend in some high energy shots.
Kind of like making a blind person see. Make the viewer feel what's it's like to ski. Make them feel like they're there or want to be there. Yeah, I just didn't feel the energy I would expect. Otherwise no complaints..

thanks raptor.

One thing though is Wakeskating we ride at about 18 mph. There isnt really much energy its basically just flow. But sure you always add more POV shots. thanks

Guy sounds like a douche, this pretty much says it all. ^^

You're young, keep filming (oops!) Keep up the good work. The best revenge is living well.

Maybe that's it. Even the tumbles and stuff, even if only at 18 mph they can be pretty cool/exciting. The wake jumps and everything, ya know? A board level POV could be really exciting. It's just my personal opinion, not what you 'should do', just my take on it on what I'd like to see in a video.

Otherwise, like I say, no complaints at all. Looks great.

Believe it or not, your teacher's comment are important and part of your long journey.

Cheers,

NOT WHEN THEY SAY THINGS LIKE THIS...

...My teacher told me I was going no where lol

The teacher sounds like a poo pooin loser to me. Why would a TEACHER say that to a STUDENT? To motivate them? Fk Me. Nice poo pooin program he's got there. Hey, teachers, let's fking smack the student upside the head a few times. Maybe that will smarten him up too. THE TEACHERS A LOSER.

His opinion means nothing. Don't sweat it.

My Grade 7 teacher was a drunk. I was kicked out of school, and kicked out of my music program at another school a year later. 2 years after that, having been kicked out of high school 3 times, I was tanning my ass on the beaches of Mexico at 18 yr's old playing rock and roll 7 days a week sending post cards to my old 'friends'. True story. So, that's that. Your teacher is a a fkin loser and tell him I said so .

Ahem, Cheers. hehe. :)

Thanks guys. I am in the works for actually working for Yahoo website called GrindTV... Really Excited hopefully alot of really cool oppurtunitys will open up. Basically going to be a videographer/blogger for thier wakeboard area.

Al Pacino was told the same thing in 1972. It become his fuel for what would later be a Nomination for Best Supporting Actor in Godfather.

As I said, very important...

So use negativity for positivity.:thumbup::)
