Should I get a DVX100b or take the extra step toward an HD camera

Hi, I have been in the market for a DVX100b for a while and have been thinking instead of getting the DVX maybe I should go for HD.
Im going to be using it for a number of things. Like filming skateboarding, short films and I also need it for my TV production class for school.

But I have 2 problems
-HD camcorders are way to much right now.
-Digital SLRs are not in the question for my applications because they arent good for getting the shots I need while riding(they would be too shaky, fisheyes for DSLRs are alot more then just an adapter)

So heres my question. Should I stick to getting a DVX for now and maybe in the next 6 months to a year go to HD or should I just wait another 3 months to get a HD camcorder?

Also, can anyone recommend me a HD camcorder that usually goes for under 2500 used that does not use p2 cards?

Those were used prices too btw.
Take a look around the threads to see all the amazing footage the DVX put out

I would suggest staying with the DVX. Unless you are projecting in a large theater, the dvx is fine for most uses, like TVs, and footage that will be displayed on a small screen. If you are going for the large screen, I would wait for the RED scarlet, which can be bought starting at 3000, but since its not out yet, you might have to wait. If you dont want to wait, the XH A1s is good, the XL H1s is also very good, or the HVX.

Haha the scarlet, lol will see when that ever gets released

Another note to add, it depends what your market is. Meaning if your getting asked to shoot TV stuff or clients have specific requirments and there is no rental house or people in your area renting cameras that can meet their specs than you will have to update. If not Stick with the DVX till you bankroll enough cash to move up tiers

i agree with just about everything Kevmo has said. DVX's have so much capability and versatility and are super dependable. It's easy to make good, quick money if you focus and make quality instead of quantity. once you've raised enough money for an HD cam you'll feel bad for not using your dvx anymore. don't worry though, you'll find some good uses for it! :)
