FS7: Should I get a Atoms Shogun or a Small HD 702?

Hi all, I am looking to buy a replacement monitor for my FS7, coming from a Small HD DP6 I have enjoyed using the last few years. I initially wanted to get a fullHD 1920x1080 screen, so thats why I was leaning toward the SmallHD 702 Bright. But I saw that the Shogun Inferno 7" 4KHDMI quad is only a couple hundred more right now, so why shouldn't I get it? I don't have the RAW extension unit (yet), but do plan on getting it in the future. But with the ability to apply LUTs and record externally, is there a reason I should avoid buying the Shogun? Thanks!

If your 1st goal is the display you should have a look at both of them in real life.
I don't know how or even if Atomos improved the screen of the Inferno but the Shogun is very (very) reflective and only usable in bright daylight when you bring a lot of effort for sun shade.

I would not buy a new product simply on specs or on NAB hype, particularly when Atomos has always been very much of a mixed bag with users. If you are set on Inferno, at least wait until it actually ships and hear what users in the real world have to say.

Odyssey 7Q+ and the VideoDevices PixE 5 and the PixE 7 already do exist so consider those if you need something right away. If you are considering RAW, the Odyssey 7Q+ is the best option. Atomos has promised but not delivered CinemaDNG support. It also seems from the description that Inferno will require 12G SDI for 4K60p support which would not be possible with the XDCA back. Odyssey 7Q+ maximizes your RAW potential.

The Inferno screen really looked good at NAB. But I would honestly wait to see it in the wild before pulling out the credit card.

The SmallHD 502 and 702 does not seem to work that well with the Sony cameras PsF signals. Reads them as interlaced. Something to keep in mind!

FS7 and the 702 isn't the best combination but the 702 is a great monitor. I put in a note to SmallHD about the PsF issue and they will look into it but there's no promised fix. It works fine but when using the zoom feature the image is jittery.

Sorry for my ignorance, I though as for the FS5, you can select the type of signal you want output (Progressive, PsF or progressive Pull Down).
What's benefit to output PsF signal?

SmallHD told me they would fix it since the release of the 502, I think its not a priority for them.
