Hey guys!

First I want to say hello, this is my first post here. I'm from Germany and I hope you can understand me :')

At the moment I have an Canon HG20 Camcorder with nice Colors. Now I can buy a used DVX100b for 400€ (~ 544$) with all original Add'Ons (without the bag, 2 batteries) from a film distributor. But the problem is, this cam still run 220hours. And now I dont know if I would buy it. And second, the Camera still have a Lens focal distance problem. Can I repair this at a professional repair-house?

What do you say?

Greetings from Germany

No I would not off the top of my head. Have the heads been cleaned? replaced? You can get a good one with less than 70 hours for about $1000 USD

220 isnt alot of hours trust me. Mine is 200+ and i really havent used it all that time. the hour meter continues to run as long as the camera is on and a tape is in it ( u dont have to actually be recording). I'd be more concerned with HOW or what conditions it was used in. 220 hrs of studio time is much different from 220 hrs in the sahara. So try and find out under what conditions it was used.

Also the focal distance problem that u mentioned is also reason for concern.

Hey!

Sorry, but I can not say in what conditions the DVX used. Because a lot of people leased this camera. The film distributor checked the camera all the time if it come back.

The only problem is the Lens focal distance problem, the camera is full functionally. Can I repair this at a professional repair-house?

Greetings

If a number of people leased the camera, then you can be sure that at least someone did not care for it properly. This is why there is a problem with the lens. Repairs are not cheap. Why fix a broken cam whose history is at best questionable when you can find one in good shape for the same amount in the end?

u can get other dvx's in better condition with less hrs. Keep looking...u can start right here in the Marketplace forums.

I would not buy it, either. Take the money for the broken camera and the repair bill you'd pay and get one that works. Don't let that DVX fever get the best of you...there are good cams out there you can afford. Good luck.

Great advice. Be patient. You should be able to find one in near new condition in the Marketplace. I have seen the 100B with low hours for as little as $1100.
