Should I be in LP or SP recording mode?

Hey,

It is currently set to LP mode. I think that is why my tape is showing up as 90 minute on a 63 minute tape. For optimal quality in 24p should it be set to SP?

LP is more likely to lead to dropouts on tape. I'd strongly suggest setting it to SP and leaving it there.

EDIT: You beat me, j.:)

Hey jerk lets leave Panasonic alone, alright?:)

Jerk? What's the matter with you? There's no need to be insulting! That you put a smiley or not, I don't appreciate!

i think the smiley was representing the fact it was a joke and not an insult..... genius

It's a great option for filming long-format events. Weddings, concerts. It uses the same codec so it has the same quality as SP, you just runt he risk of greater tape drop-outs. I also know (fairly big name) producers who have mastered no-budget feature films to DV LP for transfer to digibeta or HD for distribution. (Don't tell the distributors!)
