Shots from Film Location; Centralia, PA

These arent like awesome angles or lighting- i just went out for some shots of film locations. before i start shooting a film, i go out and do this- when i need ideas or something, i just look at pictures of the locations; get them fresh in my mind. This particular location we're using in an upcoming film, is an abandoned mine in Centralia PA. On the way i found an abandoned drive in theatre. hope you enjoy them.

Re: Shots from Film Location; Centralia, PA

Zach,

The second shot is nice but they all look like the white balance is off significantly and some of them look overexposed. There seems to be a bluish cast to all of them. Also, without context, they seem a little generic...what's the film about, etc?

Sorry to be so blunt but if you are looking for feedback, here it is...   :D

Re: Shots from Film Location; Centralia, PA

no no- feed back is good. i wasnt going for film look or anything too nice. its just reference shots of our locations. i have alot of practice to go for white balancing and stuff. where can i look up a good tutorial for whitebalance and overexposure? thanks dude

Zach,

It looks like you will have some great locations to work with.

Now you just need to practice your skills with the camera.

Definitely work on the white balance, everything has bluish haze to it as is. Also try to get a little more contrast in your shots and be careful of that lens flare (sometimes it can be used to great effect, but other times it just looks sloppy).

Good luck with the shoot,

Chris

Re: Shots from Film Location; Centralia, PA

yes, the bluish haze is probably taking some of the contrast out...

It's a beautiful spot, but if I were you, I'd shoot it clean balanced to daylight (the WB swich in "prst", and choose the 5600º option with the AWB button). You can add the blue in post anyway.

Also I almost forgot. Try to listen to your locations to get Ideas. Movies are not only images, you know...

Re: Shots from Film Location; Centralia, PA

thanks for all the help so far guys. biiiig help- much appreciated. ;D ;D ;D

Re: Shots from Film Location; Centralia, PA

Im repeating what veryone else has said; either use a PRST or do a WB manually. The locations are indeed cool. I like the GATE. Creepy.
