shotgun mic recomendations?

I'm looking to buy a new shotgun mic to use with my dvx100b. I am always looking for good deals but I don't wanna buy a junk mic. Anyone have any suggestions?

I've been looking for used mics on ebay, one of them is a Sennheiser ME-80. Any comments?
 
I'd do a search. Having been there myself I was shocked at the amount of threads regarding mics. I have the Rode NTG1, which is good but if your budget exceeds that of £130, then way hey!!! There's loads of comments on the search tool.
 
Thanks for the insight. i have one final question, is there a big difference betwen a shotgun that offers both battery/phantom power and a shotgun that only offers battery power? I ask because I am looking at a shotgun that does not have phantom power, but does offer XLR: Azden SGM-1X. Any thoughs would be great.

You need not ask these questions: go to the AUDIO section and read until you are tired; every question and suggestion and recommendation regarding mics has been answered (almost). Start with the STICKY posts. Good people on this forum have spent MUCH of their time in putting together some VERY VALUABLE information. All they ask for in return, is that someone read it.
 
I can tell you this: generally speaking iif you want a DECENT shotgun look to AT or sennheiser and expect to pay around $700 min. or something around there.
