Shotgun Mic experiences

I also wouldnt go by just that shotgun test alone. That is very far from how any of those mics will be used in the real world. The NTG2 is a great mic, but also look at how you will use the mic primarily. No one mic will do all jobs well. If you are going to be indoors primarily look for a good hyper. AKG se300/ck93 is a great choice there. The NTG1/2 do great outdoors for the price though.

I've been quite happy with the AT-897 as a utility mic- but recently have been using an me-66/k6 and the me-66 is much more full and warm compared to the at.

I must agree that this is one of my absolute most favorite on-mic setups ever! Just make sure you put a deadcat on it anytime you ever shoot outdoors. It really all depends on what you're shooting that day--no mic is perfect for every situation--im sorry but it doesn't exist. in my opinion though, the me-66/k6 has my highest regards for versatility. hope this helps...

Interior dialogue recording -- $200 for the Oktava MK012. It's not a shotgun, but it's better-suited for the purpose.
