Shotgun mic + accessories recommendations...?

I recently purchased a DVX100b for shooting short fiction. Filming will be both outside/inside, but mostly indoor, small space (e.g. - apartments). The script material is very dialogue-driven, so I'm thinking mic "directionality" will be important as I attempt to capture close-up conversation and minimize background noise. I won't be attaching equipment to camera as I have crew to hold audio equipment (and for getting as close to dialogue as possible). Budget is very much a concern -- if possible, under $600, for all audio equipment.

Product suggestions?
 
I just recently bought my dvx100b along with a Rode RONTG2 shotgun mic. I got it from B&H for 269.00 It picks up audio extremely well. that shot. mic alone with no accessories is great for doing basic audio.
 
Thanks! I read-up on the Rode RONTG2 a little and sounds like a great option for my needs. I appreciate the rec!
 
I recently purchased a Azden SGM-2x due to reviews and price (around $200). Have not shot and recorded with it yet though.
 
Rode NTG-2 is a fantastic mic. All you need is a DIY deadcat (or find one super cheap) and a DIY boom pole, i have a diy boom pole and there is no handling noise at all. O and you need a shockmount.
 
I doing an extended "borrowing" of my sound guy's MXL 991 shotgun and it has gotten some awesome sound, though it is really sensitive to wind w/o the wind protector.

I picked up the NTG-2 yesterday at B&H as part of kit that included a shockmount. Knowing that I'll have a free hand on the set for sound, I also got a small handle to mount to the bottom of the mic since I'll mostly be shooting in small indoor space where boom might actually be difficult to manage. That being said, I might need boom for other shots. Any recs on DIY options or budget booms?
