Hey guys, The ShotGrip handle keeps getting great reviews and industry coverage. Adam "final word" Wilt just reviewed some new E Mount lenses - and yo! Look what handle he is using there! His column is a required bookmark if you haven't already.

Thanks Adam and Jon! If you havn't seen the handle yet go to the links below and spend 2 mins watching the video clips. It's good kit. Cheers!

Caleb,
Congrats on the press! I have been very happy with my ShotGrip Handle. I have been running and gunning around with my camera (with a Nikon 80-200,MTF adapter , Zacuto plate and rods) with confidence. I also like how the rubber coated knob on top is comfortable to the hand, yet strong. The wood handle also adds to the hip aesthetic of the camera overall and my hand does not slip. I have also found that a "messenger" style camera bag has been great for keeping everything built for running around, having no issues with the top handle. The top plate/handle is so strong, you could certainly rig the camera (fully loaded) by this and have no worries about it too.

caleb-

i went over to your site-shootingmachine.net-and i was trying to price out the pieces used in the adam wilt pix.

either here, via pm or email, perhaps you can specify what items are needed to replicate adam's rig?

of course, i can communicate with you directly.

whatever works for you, works for me.

thanks in advance for your patience.

be well.

Awesome Damien! Thanks for posting. That's the greatest part of this whole process for me-
actually supplying a new tool that shooters like using. GREAT to hear - Glad it's working for ya man!

is it OK to re-post on my website review section?

Cheers, Caleb

Hi Rob, you bet. Adam's rig is the Shortie handle (still 225 for a bit longer but now that I have it in retail locations I absolutely cannot continue this long or I'll be undercutting my own suppliers. So DVX users only for the rest of this month and then I have to stop) Excuse the rant!

Other than that he is using the sony supplied mic bracket and two of my 15mm Clamps, a female 1/4 ($50) and a male ($55) plus the finger screws ($10). So he's at $340.

Since the handle comes with a mini cheeseplate included in the base, you could also do a similar mic offset with a single male 1/4
or $290 total.

My personal recipe is 5 clamps. 3 male 1/4, all with finger screws and two female 1/4. One permits attachment of the Sony grip (with trigger) to my lower rails which I could not live without now that I'm used to it. And the other female permits monitor/EVF attachment as in my video. Addicted to this set up now too.

I'm a one trick pony tho! My whole shtick is to make an FS100 like a regular old camera: Mic on one side, viewscreen on the other, strong handle on top - and as little else as possible!

Good hearing from you Rob!

Yeah man! No problem. (The rig also fits vertically in my Portabrace bag too, which was stored in the overhead bin on a regional flight recently.)

Thanks Damien!

So that's pretty much the definition of pro kit- "fits in overhead."

I'm flying to Nawlinz for a shoot this Friday. Love it.

Right on Rob, just saw that. That should go out tomorrow, I'll email priv after it's processed. Yes man ShotGrips put food on american tables. One of the machinists who cuts these parts prefers to work as a Maine lobsterman but has a sore back so has to work for shitty old shooting machine for a living! No kidding!!~

Just got back from a job to find the shot grip waiting for me, pysched to actually have my camera working in a comfortable handheld mode for once! Sorry for the bad iphone photos!

Hey Rob, Glad to hear you like it! Thanks for posting the pics- I'm intrigued by the 15mm bar attached to the Sony
sidegrip 1/4 slot. Are you using a stub clamp there? Cool idea whatever it is.

Hey can I re-post ??

Cheers, CC

Sure feel free to repost, if you'd like i can take a better picture. And that's correct male stub clamp with rail onto the fs100 body and a female stub with the Sony grip on it. Works out well thus far!

Rob, It never occurred to me- attaching a clamp at the side 1/4 with a rail for extra grippage. I'm going to try that right away. Great application. Glad to see you slapping clamps on and building out to suit. That's just how I hoped these would help. I've been slapping them on light stands for monitors and on c-stand arms - forget what for tho! I'd really like to see pics if you have the inclination. I'm gonna take some too - I've been too lazy. Pics coming up from my shoot this Thurs...

Rob Just wondering have you ever considered mounting your EVF to handle and just rotating it into position? It looks like your
height is just about there naturally.

I was thinking about that as well...I had to mod the EVF since there's no mount on the top, and going from the bottom gets in the way more often than not. Still waiting for a proper handheld shoot to come out so I can work out the configuration...unfortunately it looks like nearly all the stuff I'm doing is tripod, until the end of the month when I'm going to shoot something for Land Rover where I can hopefully get my hands a bit dirty. So sick of tripods at this point!
