shot a wedding tonite with the r. as most who have shot with this cam know, the viewfinder is practically unusable, so i stuck with the lcd which is very good. i learned that you have to make sure you have the lcd tilted just right, if its up or down too much, the image changes brightness and this can be tricky . you may think you need to open up the iris more, but then it may be too bright when you tilt it more in line with your eyesight, i may have to try the hoodman loupe although ive heard its not the greatest, it better than nothing until something better comes out for this.
any others experience the viewing of the lcd at certain angles will vary contrast?

I find the LCD looks darker than the actual picture, and I have to refrain from opening the iris too much. I check in the viewfinder, which looks brighter tor a brightness check. Also I find if I turn the LCD down-facing a little it looks brighter. Or I just remember to let it be a tad darker than my eye wants. I'm on the EX1 though. I heard the R model has a better viewfinder.

Anyway I figure it's better to shoot a little darker and fix it in post, than to shoot too bright and loose the color information due to being blown out.

Yep...you can't trust the LCD 100% because of the view angle/brightness change deal.

It's best to judge your exposure based on the Brightness meter, Zebras and Histogram. You just need to know how to use them/set them properly, which the internet (especially this message board) is a great resource on the topics.

Yes I have zebra on 100% of the time too. After a while you just know what's going to work on your EX1.
