Shot Mark "Cannot Set" on AF100

Hi all

I have my user 1 button set to Shot Mark, but when I try to mark a clip the camera says "cannot set". Has anyone else experienced this?

Also, it says I am in playback mode only and I cannot perform any operations on clips. I am recording to a Sandisk Extreme 64 GB card and its only about a quarter full.
