Shot in 24P, editing in FCE - what are my options?

Knowing (now) that FCE does not accept 24p properly (audio and video end up out of sync towards the end when I Log and Transfer)... what are my options?

IS there another way/program to capture the footage without having to upgrade to Final Cut Pro? I'm also losing about the last 5-10 seconds of all clips...

What are my options?

HMC40, 1080/24P, MAcBook Pro, FCE 4
 
Thanks Bob - using Video Pier HD, it actually did solve the sound-sync problem.

But the image seems to be a bit degraded now... set it to output as a Quicktime video, highest quality... any thoughts?
 
Do you have the option to output the conversion in AIC (Apple Intermediate Codic)? The bit rate is very high in AIC, so any loss would be minimal. Also be careful, I have a 20" iMAC, but the video is only 6 bits per pixel. The lower number of bits per pixel causes the video to appear degraded, when in reality it's not.
