Shot a couple things

I went up to the moutnains. about 45mins away, and shot A bunch of stuff. I went to 3 differnt sk8 parks. And a marina where we go boating.. But anyways, I did not have fun shooting this stuff. WERID.. I had so many issues with exposure and also shooting angles. The only thing that I think came out good were the soccer clips and the canoe shots.

Anyways, Skate was littery all thrown down on a track of music, and so was the other clip of scenery. So it is probably boring. :) Maybe I can get some insight on angles and how to shoot skating. ND off was over exposed, CineV Master P. -6, Detail +2, Croning +2. If you put the ND to 1/8, too dark. I have so many clips where I got good color, that it was WAY dark becuase of the shadows.. One Skate park I had to shoot towards the sun, becuase I was not getting any Decent angles. :( Just a bad day I guess. I did some color correcting

I ran out of traffic, sorry had to take clips down.

The skating footage isnt as bad as you think, but on some of the shots Fisheye lens woulda made it more indy skate looking.

The stuff in the mountains just didnt have any contrast or nice colors, wierd, but i love looking at footage from the camera no matter what it looks like. Cant wait for B&H to email me that its in stock and shipping to the office!
 
Some of the stuff looked great and skating footage takes a while till ya get the feel of where you should be and the relationship to the sun. I think that rail slide towards the cam looked sweet... especially if the kid had the momentum to come right up the lens then I think you'd have demo quality shot there...

I'd say to set your zebras at 105.. use only the viewfinder for exposure and let it rip... try to keep the sun at your back and you'll be good..

I'm putting some skating stuff together.. so I'll put it on the clips bin... another neglected proj that has to be gone from the drives...

Overall.. yes it's a bit hot and blown out, but nothing too bad. The thing that is bad though is that you didn't have FUN... Next time pack some fun in ya bag and let that biotch loose.... but I felt the same way the first few weeks I had my HVX... Frustrating pissed at not nailing stuff but that comes with time and experience and also dvxuser in earnest... reading up and checking out the footie generously loaned out here..
 
yea definetly get a fish eye to film skating, at least the close up shots, if you can even find one that fits the HVX. look into an MK2 from Century Optics
 
I should Also mention that this shoot was all dedicated to getting to know the handheld technique. :)haha a lot harder than some people make it look.
