Shot 720p/24p @ 24FPS but default timeline says 60fps?!

This makes no sense to me. When I drag this footage into a timeline and convert it to whatever the program says is the default timeline for said footage, it comes out to 59.94 on the timeline?! what the heck?

This is stressing me out because I need to sync the audio from this to a canon 7D which is 23.98 footage!

help! thanks!

Did you shoot 24P or 24pN?

If you shot 24P, then it's 24p in a 60p stream. Pulldown must be removed. Some NLEs do this automatically. I'm guessing you must be using FCP, right?

Yes fcp and 24p not 24pn. How big of a problem will this be? Also, in the future, if I record audio with a second camera but in standard 480i (to save space and time) should I use 24p or 24pa to match with a canon 7d at 1080 23.98

In fcp-
Click on the clip
Go to tools and click remove advanced pulldown

24pa, its easier to remove the pulldown to get it to 23.976 to match frame rates

You don't want to remove advanced pulldown if you shot 720/24P. There's no advanced pulldown in 720, only 2:3. (With 24pN, there's no pulldown at all and the files are already 23.976.)
