SHORT: Shorts, Knock Knock and Holy War

I haven't been here for a while, been busy dealing with personal issues. I think this is the right forum for this post, but if it isn't the administrators have my permission to put it in the right forum. The site has changed, I was dropped and I had to redo my profile so I could get in to post this.

I shot what I called Holy War but it isn't the full length movie, instead it is a send up of Osama bin Laden and Fox news. This is the first complete short I've done and we had fun doing it. It isn't very long, I hope Osama likes it.:Drogar-Happy(DBG):

Also I did a short called Knock, Knock a film about a rookie assistant Grim Reaper and his first day on the job. There is a link to them on youtube, under the name DavidMPayne. This was really fun to shoot but I got some bad advice about sound levels and the sound isn't great, good, but not great especially when the lead actor started playing the guitar and piano at the end. (It's too loud, turn it down a bit.) and that shot me down when I submitted it to short film festivals.

I had hoped that doing a short would help me learn more about shooting film, and it did.

Then life got strange for me. The post office medically retired me for problems with PTSD, mostly insomnia. Then social security retired me for the same thing. At this point the VA's little game of the three "D's" fell apart. The first D is they deny you were injured in Vietnam. When I developed Agent Orange diabetes that shot the first D down, and their own psychiatrists said I was a classic case of PTSD, which they had been saying for thirty years. So then they went to the second D which is to delay any disability payments until after the final D, which is my death so they don't have to pay up. You got to love government bureaucracy.

Well the VA finally acknowledged the PTSD and with that and the agent orange diabetes I was 100% disabled, so I was receiving full disability payments. In the end I was making about twice as much as I'd been making at the PO. Also there were back payments that ended up totaling $100,000.00. Great huh? Yes and no.

Social Security and the VA will not let you work in most cases without taking away your benefits. At 62 I couldn't take that chance, so I have most of the money to make the film if I shot it on a shoe string budget, I already had all of the cameras and equipment but I can't use them now. So here is a link to the shorts, hope you like what turned out to be my first and last films. :embarasse

Here is the link and if I didn't do it right just look me up on youtube.

I would like to thank the members here for all of the good feedback which helped me shoot these films. I also like to see that the seed I planted has turned into the boot camps being run here.
