Short Video of Trip to India

Here is a link to a quicktime file of a short presentation for a recent trip to India. I am starting the larger project next week. This one is some shots strung together to music (someone wanted to show others some footage).

I followed along and did media for a missions trip with our church (actually I work for the church doing media).

Hope you enjoy. Let me know what you think.

Great visuals!

Great visuals!

Man, some amazing footage there! I thought it was effective in conveying the culture and the sense of the people there, even without any words.

I went to India on a mission trip about ten years ago, when I was 14, and this brought back a lot of memories...

Good job with the shooting/editing/music.

Looking forward to the full production!

wow! that was great. I was there for a month last year, so it was a wonderufl thing to be able to watch that.

worth the download, if you want to take a peek at another place.
you capture the flavor and feel for the area very well. ..the sad realities and the color.
nice pacing, seemed very well thought out as an edit.
effective natural sound, perfect music choice
glad to watch, reminded me why I love video, even though it takes freakin' forvever to produce (feels like)

what else? I love matching shots, and would have liked to see some more of those.

how many tapes did you shoot on? what cities?

you got some memorable faces, really. and some striking scenes.

holy smokes, my 700th post!!!!

Thanks for the replies. It was a fun trip. Always caught tagging along and not having it be about video (..can't we go here or shoot more there, etc., video is not the priority on these trips, but the misions pastor is committed to communicating with media). I shot 12 tapes, about 10 interviews and danced in a wedding party at night!

I also brought home some "critters" in the belly and it has been 5 weeks of getting it straight. I went from India to Malaysia and shot some there (that is after this project).

I basically slammed this together. I am happy with the first 45 seconds and will scrap the rest.

Thanks again.

Missed the part about the cities:
New Delhi
Agra (the "Taj" but left the camera!!!)
Allahabad
Varanasse
(Spelling is off but close enough for Americans)

FatDaddy..

Very nice video!Music selection was great too (what did you use for your songs? Royalty free stuff or what?)

Reminds me of the trip I took to Pakistan...both are lands of extremes!

Also, what setting did you do your shooting with 24P?

Definetly keep us in touch with your project's progress!

what city did you shoot the bear in?

try yogurt for the tummy terrors, i think the acidophilous? may eat the baddies out.

Thanks again. The songs are Kevin Moore (Chroma Key & Dream Theater) and DJ Cheb. I used the scene 5 (tweaked a little) and a cinetastics matteblox w/polarizer filter. I actually did not like the set-up with the velcro filter holders. I have many scenes showing some filter holders in the corner of the frame when zoomed wide. I hated to cram those things into the hood. I did not check enough in the eyepiece!

The bear came from a road side stop. We rented a bus and drove down to Varanasse from Delhi (man was that a long trip!). We stopped somewhere like a big truck stop and saw some bears and got some footage. Actually one person in or group sat on the bear to get some pics (the animal lovers in our group did not think the whole thing was a good idea).
