Short review Nikkor 35 2.0 AI lens

so you like it? i got one because i though it would match the 24/2 and 85/2 i've had since forever but it's not nearly as sharp, nor as glare resistant, but maybe that's because i very often shoot wide open. or is there something wrong with mine perhaps, it's pretty beat up even though the glass is clean? anyway i'm trying to find the 1.4 instead...

I got one last week and it seems to be as good as my 28/2 and 50/1.4. The 1.4 is really expensive and I hear they are pretty soft wide open. mb try and get another one to be sure if yours is a dud.

I'm just not sure if I really need that focal length.

Mine looks fine, I would say a little better than the 85 2.0 AI wide open (I have one also). But both are clearly better one stop down. One thing to look out for in these old lenses are scratches at the back lens element. My 24 2.8 AI suffers from that and is hopelessly soft and dreamy.

thanks, i'll try another one if i find one. as for the 1.4 yes it's soft wide open, and it vignettes, but closed down to 2.0 it's supposedly sharper than the "native" 2.0.
