Long story short about the making of this movie: I had a near death experience stuck in a quicksand.

Please tell me what you think of the short movie

Hope you like it! :-)

Looked beautiful. Nice eye, composition, color, mood. A little esoteric, but interesting.

What that shot in film or with an HVX?

Right on--a good ol' nod to Goddard / style over substance (hope this doesn't offend) french twist thing.
So many beautiful shots. Really. The one that stood out in the "I would have like to have seen...etc" area was at the end where he sopts the trinket in the sand and runs up to it...it might have been sweet to see some real DOF..super close on the trinket (like you were) and him blurry in the background, running up into focus.
The desert shots were grand too. And I really liked your attention to sound design...really makes parts jump out--made me care about what I was being shown in a very emotional way.

Oh--another critisism / opinion. Don't take it too seriously. All three of the film-makers wearing hats wasn't my thing. I think your piece is to be taken more seriously than that. Some part of that took all the beautiful shots back to more of a campy structure. Again---not trying to offend--just giving you both sides.

All in all--great effort--showed a lot of work, and good shooting & editing & scoring.

Wonderful! I loved the dream-like tone to the whole piece. Were you on 1/24 shutter in the rain? And what did you use for CC?

Love the composition, color, some of the best raw camera (no 35 adapter) I've seen. The music was spot on. Really great.

My only critique, fwiw, is that the 3 film makers scenes were not par with the rest of the film. Sound was a bit tinty with slight echo as well for their dialogue. I would have choose to not show the film makers but rather have them as angles looking down from the clouds to keep with that dream-like sequence.

Great stuff, really.

Looked very good man. Most of the shots were spot on. I agree with Scotty that the shots of the filmmakers was a little dry but it kind of seems like you wanted to make that look different from the rest of the short.

Are you kidding? Style over substance.... Are you refering to the same Jean-Luc Goddard????!!?!?!

How deep did you get in the quicksand? LOL.. i noticed the hardcut in that scene. Loved the style... nice work.

Interesting, QT player (PC) says 20fps. Plays 4 original/consecutive frames, holds the 4th on the 5th frame, and then continues on repeating this cycle. Playback at 30fps (29.97?). It does not seem to play back with a stutter. To me, the image does have an interesting temporal adjustment that I perceive.

I was getting pick-up shots with the actor... and while I was running from one end to the other I ended up in a serious quicksand. Whenever my actor tried to help me out, he would also almost end up in the same situation as I was.. it was bad

Do you know how this is done? I noticed that in the antarctica shots the "4 in 5" frame thing only applies to the actor, not the snow falling in front. Is this a result of shooting the actor @ 24 then bringing it into the compositor set at 30?

I'm intrigued.

PS. Cool video. Loved the desert shots.
