Short loupe

I know people have modded their FS100's to have a shortened loupe, is this loupe exactly the same on the FS700? Has anyone done this ?

Also, on the video I watched describing the process the guy added a custom cut reading lens to the loupe. Is this a required step ?

Exactly the same. I modified my FS700 loupe and it's way, way better. I did not cut anything though. Here's the tutorial I used. Works great.

I used the same tutorial and added a 1.5 reading lens to the eyecup to make up for the shortened distance and the focus is perfect. Also used gaffer tape instead of velcro.

Are the reading lenses available anywhere online? I'm worried about that portion because I don't know of anyone around here who is able to sell/cut lenses like that

I wonder if it's possible to purchase a replacement loupe in the event that I want to resell the camera.

If you use the tutorial I posted, you can just put the eye piece back together. And you are just unscrewing bolts and removing the middle section. It's not permanent and you can restore it.

I understand this, so I take it you not end up using a reading glass in yours ?

No, I don't need it. The diopter adjusts fine for my eyes. I'm near sighted, but if you are far sighted, you might need the extra reading glass.
