Short hip hop video shot on the DVX (about 20 seconds)

 looks good man but whats up with the audio sounds like the mix is taking place in a tiled shower I'm sure its how they tracked and mixed the song.

thanks man!

as for the mix, the music is mixed just about perfectly but I haven't imported it into the edit yet. What you hear during the video is the sond being played on a boom box. When it gets imprted into the video it'll sound right.

looks good coffee. im sure you're still working on it but the first few frames look a little flickery... like the transition couldn't pull enough footage to dissolve correctly. i hope that's not the case- otherwise i love your shots- gritty. could use just a bit more light.. or maybe it's my monitor.

hey thanks man. I'm still learning FCP so the flicker and light are my fault. I just learned today that Macs are lighter then PC's so when I export I should give the whole thing a bit more light so it doesn't seem so dark. Oh well, that's why I did that piece, so I can learn from it...

Not bad at all for first time coffee. Also, i think i asked you this but you didn't reply. How much did you pay for shake (if you don't mind telling us). I'm thinking of doing the whole Apple thing but at their site, Shake was like $2999.00!

Thanks man! As for Shake, well, call me lucky. Doing art for someone who wants me to learn it so "I" didn't have to finance the app.

ecarr, thanks alot. I'll be working on the rest over the weekend but it's not that much left to it as the song was only a single verse. But as I said before, I did this just to learn how to use FCP which I'm in love with at the moment.

nice work coffee. keep it up. tweak tweak tweak! looks like the band gave you full access...always a plus.

hey thanks alot dude! lol, believe it or not that's me in the video... haha I fool around every now and then and record songs that I write. I have a recording studio so I can't help but to dabble....

Coffee what are you producing tracks with? Ive owned the SP1200 MPC2000 several other samplers but now have dumped it all for Reason which does it all then some but have been putting my beat production on the back burner for some time now.

Cool, Coffe, editing is tight. Most of your shots were a tad underexposed, even on my mac, so next time, don't be afraid to open a tad more. Even if you are going to a more faded look, you will have a clearer signal...

Cheers!

I've been making all of my stuff off of the ASR-10 made by Ensoniq a whiiiiiiile back..... It's the baddest thing that's ever surfaced for hip hop producers IMO and it's still used to this day by the biggest and best producers out theere like: Premier, Hi-Tec, Kanye, Large Professor, Alchamist (spelling?), Just Blaze, Scott Starch, Dr. Dre (sometimes), RZA, and oh damn I can't think of the two baddest that's stuck in my head...... But you get the point.

I love the ASR-10 and will own it till my old age. I have so may other things, some I sold, traded or still have like the MPC2000, the SP1200 (the all time classic beat machine), Korg Triton.

I played with Reason but I'm comfortable sticking with what works for me.

Thanks my friend! That was my first attempt at it so I'm REALLY happy that some people think it's decent. As for the exposure, I'm still learning the DVX. I knew it was pretty dark and never thought of opening the iris or anything like that to accomidate the shot.

Coffee one more question. I just want your opinion on this because you said you are new to all this. Have you tried Vegas before and if you have do you prefer Vegas or FCP. Like i mentioned earlier i'm thinking of going FCP way but i just wanted to make sure that it's easy to learn like Vegas. Thank you in advance.

Some of the images look alittle too dark for me. One thing I used to do when I edit music videos is I cut to the beat. You don't have to do it everytime but sometimes it just makes it look alot smoother. The editing had that messy style to it which sometimes could work if done correctly. Not bad for starters. So you have a studio huh?

Keep it up!

Im watching on a PC so maybe that made a difference but while the stuff in the studio is too dark, I quite like the exposure during the closeup shot...

For some reason it reminded me of one of those Ghost Dog driving sequences. Maybe the song.

"I just learned today that Macs are lighter then PC's so when I export I should give the whole thing a bit more light so it doesn't seem so dark. "

lol it's not a matter of being lighter or darker. It's the way you have your monitor setup as far as brightness/contrast, color mangement etc.

btw nice edit ;)
