I didn't actually do this with my DVX100A ... it was before I got it.. it was done with a cheap sony TRV17 camera... I was thinking of redoing it with my DVX... but didn't want to fall into the lucas trap of reworking it.....

lemme know what ya think.. I always love to hear feedback on my stuff good or bad...

it is my first short so be kind ;)

you'll need to watch it in QuickTime for all you PC people.

Enjoy.

Re: Short Film

great short, one of the ones i'd watch again, the music made it move along nicely, keeping your attention. I was wondering where the little :) was going to go next and what was going to happen to him. poor guy got squashed, ouch! that had to hurt.

Re: Short Film

The trap you fell into was taking too much time to tell a non-story. Forget the whole 'painting with light' nonsense. Come up with an idea, sketch it out, then shoot it. The idea and it's execution is far more important the the directing part. You can have a perfectly lit, perfectly shot film with perfect audio and it still stinks because the idea was bad. Take a great idea and execute it well and you can be forgiven for less than perfect direction, editing, lighting.

Oh, and it was dark in the beginning. I was too bored to watch all the way through, but I thought it was lit well after the beginning and shot well. Just was too long to hold interest.

Re: Short Film

Finally someone didn't like it! yes!

;D

I dunno what you mean by non story though... the whole "story" was the ball trying to get outside... unless you mean non-story in terms of lack of complexity... interesting take on it.

as for lighting... your absolutely right.. it sucked... heh..we used the lighting that was there to shoot.... so it is all non consistant.

and as for sketching it out, I actually did storyboards for the entire thing...

thanks for the feedback.

i'm out.
