Anyone familiar with Robert Mckee's STORY,is probably aware of his Beats > Scenes > Sequences > Act > Story notion. Of course all of these elements are Story Value-charged Positive/Negative etc.

If those are the Story elements for a feature length, then would it be; Beats > Scene > Story in lieu for a short film?
 
How many pages do you have? Divide your sequences by the number of pages. It boils down to two to three pages per act for a 5-10 page short.

You have to take A LOT out, and simplify the story to the bare essentials.
