If you have a minute to spare then please checkout the trailer for my new short film 'Tom'



Shot on a GH2 with Canon FD lenses.
 
Well, that got me interested. Very nice.

Hope you don't mind but I don't think you need two establishing shots of their arrival at the beginning (car in driveway). Breaks up the rhythm for me. Just an opinion.
 
So am I right to think Tom's secret is that he's an estate agent. :cheesy::happy:
 
Thanks for watching. Yeah true, I probably could lose the establishing shots but I just prefer it with them in.

Haha, everyone does seem to hate estate agents...

Just re-read my post and realize that it came out slightly wrong. Yes, I agree an establishing shot is needed, I just thought two was one too many. Still looking forward to seeing the completed film. :thumbsup:
 
@Chris Adler - I have got some room tone in there to cover the cuts and lay underneath but I wasn't really sure what else I could put in there to give it more life. We also had a bit of an issue with audio reflections on some of the inside scenes and so there's an echo. (wrong microphone choice) I tried to minimise it in Audition but couldn't do anything with it.

I did the sound post myself so it was a learning experience. Can you suggest anything I can add to improve it?
 
Inside the car sounds very sterile. Sit in your car and listen to the noises you hear outside, but also inside when you shift your weight, move in your seat, etc. Clothing swooshes are all noticeably absent also. People are never silent when their body is in motion. Those little things have huge payoff and really set you apart from most of the other indie short films.
 
Actually there wasn't 2 establishing shots, soo I thought that was fine. The other one is a POV shot that works for me. Didn't notice a room tone issue inside either as there is music playing constantly in the background. This looks like an interesting story. How long is the final going to be? Keep us posted.
